An access log is a text file containing a thorough list of all the files accessed by your Internet site visitors. All of the files which were requested in one way or another will be included, so if you have a PHP script application and a visitor opens just the home page, for example, you may find numerous files in the log. This is because there are components on the home page which are embedded - parts of other pages, pics, etcetera. These files shall be listed inside the access log, so you can get a detailed picture of the way your website performs. The information is in plain text format, so the logs are occasionally referred to as "raw data" too. An access log shows the name of every requested file, the path to it, the date it was accessed, in addition to the user’s IP address, browser and Operating System. Additional information, such as the referrer website, is oftentimes provided as well. A log file may be processed by various desktop programs for statistical purposes as an addition to the web stats provided by your server.

Access Log Manager in Web Hosting

Our custom-built Hepsia Control Panel has a section dedicated to various logs and the access logs are one of them. As soon as you sign in to your web hosting account and navigate to this section, you shall find a list of all the domain names and subdomains which you have. All it takes to allow the generation of access logs is to click on a button that will be available next to each and every domain/subdomain. If the option is enabled, you'll see a download link as well as the file size so far, so you shall be able to save the file to your computer and examine it or process it with some program. Enabling or disabling the logs becomes effective instantaneously, so if you don't need one, you may stop it with a mouse click from the same exact section of the CP. You shall still have the ability to access the already generated content by simply clicking the Download link.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers

Our state-of-the-art web hosting platform shall generate access logs for each Internet site hosted inside a semi-dedicated server account, as long as this feature is permitted. All domain names and subdomains that you have shall be listed within the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia CP, that we supply with all the accounts, so if you want our system to start generating logs for each of them, you should simply click on the small button on the right side of the respective domain/subdomain and change the default Off option to On. You could deactivate this feature anytime by following the same steps. You can find a Download link for each and every log within the same section of the CP, so you may save the content produced by our system in .txt format with no more than a click. An existing log file could be downloaded even after the option has been deactivated, so you'll still be able to check out the data that has already been generated.
